How Are You Determining Friction Loss?
It's no secret that there are many different ways of figuring out
friction loss. What method are you using? Do you know how
to use the slide rule? Are you comfortable using charts? Any
questions, please ask me!
This is a training we did on A-shift at the water treatment plant
on Sheldon Rd. We review the pump operators responsibilities
and pump operations in the initial stages of a working fire.
Water supply and friction loss are among the topics.

PUMP CHART
BE AWARE OF THE 2521
SWITCHEROO
Well, it took about 20 plus years, but we have it
figured out. The controls above labeled 1 & 2, 1 being
labeled the pump drain and 2 being labeled the rear
inlet, are reversed. In order to drain the pump, you
need to operate control 2 by rotating the dial. The
rear inlet is controlled by the pull of control 1.

THERMAL IMAGING
AND OPERATION OF OUR NEW TIC
Our new thermal imaging camera is here. If you did not
get a chance to go through the training, the materials
from the class are located below.
the camera you would not be aware of. Watch the firefighter
here in the door as he enters the doorway unaware of the high
heat and ends up melting his shield.
